Thebit - a mule design exploration showcasing initial concept, form development using both ploygon modeling as well as digital sculpting to final render.
Programs used: Hand drawing, Photoshop, Autodesk Maya, Maxons ZBrush.
Initial sketch for the design.
I took inspiration from an impact crater named Thebit. I used the organic formation, the push and pull energy of the moon, as well as the varying surface levels as key elements that I wanted to communicate in the design.
I added the additional stack height of the midsole in order to continue the exploration as well as evolve the design into a more supportive and response midsole.
The design intent was a mule that sits higher off the ground as urban hikers. I wanted to exaggerate the upper to something otherworldly. In so I pushed the capabilities of my modeling skills using polygon modeling.
